形态描述：乔木，高达20米，幼枝带棕色或带紫色，后变灰色，具皮孔；芽鳞覆瓦状，长圆状椭圆形，早落。叶3-6片排成不整齐的假轮生，近革质，长圆状披针形或倒披针形，长10-20厘米，宽2.5-7厘米，先端渐尖，尖头长8-20毫米，基部楔形，中脉在叶上面轻微凹陷，在下面突起，侧脉每边6-9条；叶柄粗壮，直径1.5-3.5毫米，长10-25毫米。花近顶生或腋生，单生或2-4朵簇生；花梗长18-45 (-60) 毫米；花被片15-21片，外层花被片常具透明腺点，内层花被片肉质，最大的花被片椭圆形或倒卵状长圆形，长8-15毫米，宽4-9毫米，最内层花被片6-10片，椭圆状长圆形，长6-10毫米，宽3-7毫米；雄蕊1-2轮，12-21枚，长2.3-4.3毫米，花丝舌状或近棍棒状，常肉质，长1.1-2.8毫米，药隔截形或稍微微缺，药室突起，长1-1.5毫米，心皮11-14枚，极少9枚，长4-5.5毫米，子房扁卵状，花柱纤细、钻形，长2-3毫米。果径4-4.5厘米，蓇葖10-14枚，长12-25毫米，宽5-15毫米，厚3-5毫米，突然变狭成一明显钻形尖头，长3-7毫米；种子长6-10毫米，宽4.5-7毫米，厚2-3毫米。花期4-6月，果期7-10月。
